Catherin Bennett is Director of IDC's IT Management Programme for Australia and New Zealand and responsible for IDC’s Information Technology Experience Program (InTEP), a management focus group that provides senior MIS managers and strategic planning managers of major corporate and government customers with assistance in the business implementation of information technology. Catherin is also responsible for leading, managing and developing IDC’s local and global end-user research advisory services within the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Since joining IDC Catherin has established IDC's Management Portfolio for IT service. This research and advisory portfolio provides senior executives from all industry sectors with assistance in the business implementation of information technology. Through research reports, networking forums, benchmarking tools and specialist research IDC's IT Management Programme provides executives who make decisions about investments in technology with practical approaches, and real life case studies.

Catherin joined IDC after having been with Gartner for almost 4 years holding Asia Pacific roles initially as a Best Practice Research Analyst, then Head of Best Practices and progressing to become a Senior Director with their CIO Executive Program. Catherin has an MBA and over 15 years experience in the IT industry. Her background has strong entrepreneurial, consulting, business development, management and technology experience covering many industry sectors including finance, health, education and telecommunications.

Ms. Bennett was also the founder and managing director of a systems integration company for 10 years that assisted clients with their networking technology needs by providing consulting, end-to-end implementation, support and network administrator education.

Catherin is a strong advocate for women in IT and has spoken at many industry forums locally, across Asia Pacific and in the US on this subject, as well as on many of the challenges facing CIO's and senior executives relating to the business use of technology. She has also mentored many up-and-coming women working within this industry. As a steering committee member of FITT (Females in Information Technology and Telecommunications) she looks to continue to support this ever-evolving industry.

Patrik Bihammar is a Senior Analyst for IDC's software research, with a focus on the security and system management software markets. In this role, Mr. Bihammar is responsible for tracking and analysing key developments in these markets as well as identifying emerging trends within the Australian and New Zealand software markets.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Bihammar worked for Hewlett Packard in Sydney on an ISV partner management project. Patrik has been working in the IT industry in various roles since 1994. His experience includes having worked as a system and network engineer for a VAR in Stockholm and an ISV in London. Patrik has also worked as a systems administrator at Linkoping Institute of Technology parallel with his studies.

Mr. Bihammar holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, majoring in Computer Science and Marketing from Linkoping Institute of Technology in Sweden. He has also studied business, marketing and IT at the University of Technology in Sydney as well as studied Spanish in Barcelona.

Paul Kangro, Applied Technology Strategist for Novell, is responsible for introducing Novell products and solutions to the market-place and working closely with product development to ensure market needs are meet. Paul also provides direction to major companies on strategic choices of net services technology; including directory, security, e-business and content delivery services. Paul has been instrumental in the introduction of Novell's Linux product portfolio into the Asia Pacific Market. Paul has been with Novell for over five years and is a regular presenters at industry and tradeshow.

Prior to joining Novell in 2000, Paul spent 16 years in technical, sales, marketing and management assignments. The majority of his time was at IBM, Paul has also worked for Cable & Wireless Optus and Nortel Networks in technical, marketing and project management roles.

Paul studied Electrical Engineering at the University and New South Wales and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management and a Masters of Management from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management in Sydney. At present he is studying for his MBA.

His comprehensive security knowledge encompasses the life cycle of security from requirements, strategy, policy, standards through to architecture design, implementation and out-tasked management. Peter is extremely adept at assisting organisations in determining the value and benefits of security from a business perspective. A number of Australia's leading organisations have used Peter's security models to assist them in enacting security programmes that are not only business risk driven but operationally achievable.

Chris Gatford is a Senior Security Consultant with Pure Hacking in Sydney, Australia and performs penetration tests for organisations all around the world.

Pure Hacking specialises in conducting independent security penetration testing, including internal and external penetration testing and application audits, providing ongoing security management and executing global agreements for penetration testing.

Chris has reviewed countless IT environments and has directed and been responsible for numerous security assessments for a variety of corporations and government departments.

In his previous role at Ernst & Young he was a manager for six years leading the penetration testing services and running as the lead instructor for the eXtreme Hacking course. In these roles Chris has taught the art of professional hacking to hundreds of students from global organisations.

Chris has recently co-authored “Network Security Assessment: From Vulnerability to Patch” from Syngress Publishing.

Chris is also a frequent speaker at many security related conferences.

Francis Castello is Business Manager for VeriSign’s Authentication business in Asia Pacific, which includes identity management, two-factor authentication and online fraud detection and prevention solutions. He is responsible for establishing and driving VeriSign’s authentication business throughout the region, as well as creating and maintaining new partner alliances and customer relationships.

Francis joined VeriSign in 2000 and has mainly focused on designing and deploying effective authentication solutions for customers to solve identified business challenges, which involve VeriSign's key layered security elements of two-factor authentication and public key infrastructure (PKI) services.

Notable accomplishments include the successful tendering of the Australian Federal Government’s Gatekeeper standard for PKI deployments to government agencies, as well as the selection of the VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) service to enable Australia Post’s VIP Online Security Service. Francis has worked with customers in all of VeriSign's key verticals including finance, healthcare and public sector.

Prior to joining VeriSign in 2000, Francis worked as an IT Services Delivery Manager and Communications Consultant for various outsourcing organisations. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree from the Chisholm Institute of Technology, Melbourne (now merged into Monash University).

David Perry, Global Director of Education at Trend Micro, is one of the best respected and best known authorities in the world of computer viruses and malicious code. With over 25 years of experience in the technical education and support field, David Perry brings to Trend Micro his own unique blend of technical understanding, communication style, and humor.

While at Trend Micro, David Perry has been a featured speaker at COMDEX, Virus Bulletin, EICAR, RSA, Infosec London, (and also Infosec Benelux, Moscow, Stockholm, Helsinki, Utrecht and New York) Dubtech in Dubai, and many other technical and trade conferences. He served in the national Y2K center and co chaired a committee meeting in the White House. David has appeared on numerous national and regional television news broadcasts, including NEXT on CNN, the ABC Evening News with Peter Jennings, CBS's Good Morning America, and NPR All Things Considered.

Prior to joining Trend Micro, David Perry began his career in the antivirus world as a technical support analyst with Peter Norton Computing (now SYMANTEC), where he helped tens of thousands of individuals and corporations to recover from virus and hostile code attacks. David assisted in the development of virus policy and created sample creation methods and protocols still in use today. Later, he worked at McAfee Corporation, managing all online and Web based support, and became a community leader through his involvement with Compuserve and AOL. He went on to Cybermedia corporation, where he quickly moved up to a company spokesperson role where he appeared in more than 170 television and radio broadcasts in addition to a full schedule of user groups, industry conferences and other personal appearances.

David lives in Huntington Beach, California with his wife, Margaret McGurr, he is an avid gardener, an amateur magician, and plays the banjo.

Prior to joining Entrust, he held a variety of positions in the UK-based security company Reflex Magnetics whom he had joined in 1997.
