 Next-Gen
Security: Defending Against Enterprise Threats
From A New Era
Patrik Bihammar, Senior Market Analyst Software
IDC Australia
The key theme of this years IDC Security
Vision is "Next-Gen Security: Defending
Against Enterprise Threats From A New Era".
This IDC keynote presentation, by Patrik
Bihammar, Senior Analyst Security ANZ, will
discuss new challenges and defenses organisations
need to consider to protect their "extended
enterprises" against a new era of security
threats.
Traditionally, new technology adoption
usually start at the workplace spreading
across corporations before filtering out
to consumers who then adopt the technology
for their personal use. Today consumer technology
is fast outpacing enterprise computing,
with popular consumer software and gadgetry
creeping into the corporate world. With
popular gadgets like iPhones, iPods and
blackberries becoming coming place and the
advent of Web 2.0 technology like Wikis,
RSS feeds, social networking and other interactive
technologies infiltrating the workplace
the risk of security breaches and data leakage
are now greater than before. Introducing
waves of security implications that are
fast becoming a real threat never before
faced by IT managers in the corporate environment.
Enterprises across ANZ are definitely spending
on security, but are they spending wisely,
and future-proofing their IT security investments?
In this keynote presentation, IDC will examine
what solutions and practices are available
to help organisations protect themselves
against this new era of security threats,
including trends and developments in Web
security, data leakage protection and network
access control (NAC).

 Preventing
Data Loss: Best Practices to Identify Control
and Manage Sensitive Data
Mark Pullen, Country
Manager Australia & New Zealand
RSA, The Security Division of EMC
The costs attributed to
data theft and loss is staggering as users
have broader access to sensitive data. Through
real-world case studies and best practices,
enterprises can help manage data sprawl
and mitigate the risk of a breach through
a data security system that helps to identify,
locate, classify, control and audit ever-greater
volumes of data. RSA will focus on key areas
including data discovery and classification,
data loss prevention and encryption key
management. |

 The Future of Content Security
Adam Biviano, Premium Services
Manager
Trend Micro
No longer does IT security mean
fending off random attacks designed to cause
service disruption or obvious damage. Today
organisations face a threat which strikes
at the very core of how they function. Web
based threats have taken hold and are threatening
the hard earned trust levels in online services
which have driven productivity and customer
satisfaction gains.
Adam Biviano will discuss the security threats
of tomorrow and how they are likely to impact
those with a strong dependency on their
digital assets. Whether you are responsible
for protecting SCADA systems from cyber
terrorism, online services from malware
infiltration, or intellectual property from
disclosure, Adam’s talk will provide
valuable insight which will help shape your
long term strategies.

Addressing Insider Threats: Strategies for Effective
Centralized Control and Visibility
Paul Granier, Worldwide Director
of Sales Engineering
ArcSight, Inc
An internal security incident is one that
is perpetrated by someone with levels of
trust and access greater than that of an
outsider. Though the majority of publicity
about security breaches today seems to focus
on outsider attacks, insider threats can
be just as devastating to the organization
as attacks from malicious outsiders and
range from information leakage to sabotage.
In this session, you will learn how SIEM
can help you to detect, investigate, monitor
and respond to insider activities and fraud
control. |

 Collaboration
Security
Peter S Watson, Chief Security Advisor
Microsoft
In this information session on Collaboration
Security, Peter Watson will be discussing
end to end trust and what this means in terms
of identity, PKI and virtualisation; what
are the directions for platform security capabilities
around data, voice and video; how can applications
securely leverage platform capabilities and
deliver end to end trust; and what still needs
to be done to enable end to end trust.

The Australian Information
Security Association (AISA)
Incorporated was formed
in 1999 and incorporated
in 2001 under the name
of Information Security
Interest Group (ISIG)
Incorporated. In 2006
a name change was introduced
to reflect the professional
standing of the organisation.
Branches exist in Sydney,
Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane
and Adelaide. We currently
have over 500 paid members
and over 500 friends on
our mailing lists.
AISA is an organisation
for individuals rather
than companies. Because
of this we can maintain
a truly unbiased view
of security in Australia.
Our membership ranges
from company CEOs through
to highly skilled technical
security specialists and
consequently the subjects
discussed at our meetings
are extremely varied.
AISA's success as a group
is largely based on the
less tangible benefits
of being a member of a
body of professionals.
Those who join in effect
get instant access to
a network of professionals
who are all interested
in contributing to the
betterment of security
in Australia. We hold
social functions to encourage
less formal networking
and provide an excellent
forum for a variety of
ideas to take shape.
AISA is a constantly
evolving and ambitious
organisation, so we are
always interested to speak
with people who have thoughts
on how we can improve
and have more impact.
