Ever wanted
to know what goes on in the mind of a Hacker?
For anyone who
works in IT especially IT security professionals,
the word Hacker might stir up feelings of
angst. At the IDC SecurityVision 2008 Next-Gen
Security: Defending Against Enterprise Threats
From A New Era event, we want to shed some
light on this subject.
Along with other
industry gurus, IDC is giving you the opportunity
to hear from Chris Gatford from Pure Hacking
who will provide insights into the world
of a penetration tester.
Chris will speak
about war stories, Point & Click Hacking
tools and the fun that can be had with new
technologies.
Chris Gatford
is a Senior Security Consultant with Pure
Hacking in Sydney, and performs penetration
tests for organisations all around the world.
Pure Hacking specialises in conducting independent
security penetration testing, including
internal and external penetration testing
and application audits, providing ongoing
security management and executing global
agreements for penetration testing. Chris
has reviewed countless IT environments and
has directed and been responsible for numerous
security assessments for a variety of corporations
and government departments.
Ethical hacking
or penetration testing simulates what hackers
would do when trying to attack computer
systems. Locating and detailing the holes
in the company’s existing security
measures and providing recommendations to
protect systems and data are some of the
tasks ethical hackers carry out.

The Australian Information
Security Association
(AISA) Incorporated
was formed in 1999
and incorporated
in 2001 under the
name of Information
Security Interest
Group (ISIG) Incorporated.
In 2006 a name change
was introduced to
reflect the professional
standing of the
organisation.
Branches exist
in Sydney, Melbourne,
Canberra, Brisbane
and Adelaide. We
currently have over
500 paid members
and over 500 friends
on our mailing lists.
AISA is an organisation
for individuals
rather than companies.
Because of this
we can maintain
a truly unbiased
view of security
in Australia. Our
membership ranges
from company CEOs
through to highly
skilled technical
security specialists
and consequently
the subjects discussed
at our meetings
are extremely varied.
AISA's success as
a group is largely
based on the less
tangible benefits
of being a member
of a body of professionals.
Those who join in
effect get instant
access to a network
of professionals
who are all interested
in contributing
to the betterment
of security in Australia.
We hold social functions
to encourage less
formal networking
and provide an excellent
forum for a variety
of ideas to take
shape.
AISA is a constantly
evolving and ambitious
organisation, so
we are always interested
to speak with people
who have thoughts
on how we can improve
and have more impact.
