David Cannon is responsible
for the Next Generation Networks
CIS program which includes
the semi annual Fixed Line
Tracker report/Forecast Assumptions
and all terrestrial based
voice and data telecommunications
consulting. Mr. Cannon covers
the market trends of traditional
PSTN/PSDN and next generation
IP services by service provider
and market segment.
Mr. Cannon joined IDC in
July 2006 and prior to this
he was Group Product Development
Manager for Australian Associated
Press (AAP) where he developed
and implemented several web-based
media and messaging application
services.
Mr. Cannon previously spent
several years working for
Australian Associated Press
Telecommunications (AAPT)
facilitating Operations Support
and Wholesale Commercial roles
and has followed the dynamic
changes in the Telecommunications
market from the time of deregulation.

Peter Hughes is the Cisco
® Manager for Unified
Communications in Australia
and New Zealand. Peter was
appointed to this role in
2000, when he joined the company.
Peter works in the unified
communications group on developing
convergence solutions and
go-to-market strategies that
will improve customer success
and help maintain Cisco as
the leader in unified communications.
Peter’s Cisco portfolio
includes Cisco Unified Communications
Manager®, and IP phones,
Unity Unified Messaging, customer
interaction, video and rich
media solutions including
high definition Telepresence
and WebEx on demand collaboration
solutions. Peter also works
closely with the Cisco partner
community and large enterprise
accounts.
Peter was instrumental in
enabling Cisco to become the
number one player in Australia
for sales of all telephony
to businesses* in late 2004.
Peter has a wealth of experience
working in the IT industry
for over 20 years. Prior to
joining Cisco, Peter held
various sales roles within
Siemens Australia. Before
moving to Australia in 1995
Peter held positions with
British Telecom and GEC Plessey
Telecommunications in the
UK.
* According to Frost and
Sullivan, Cisco led the overall
market for sales of telephony
to all businesses in 2004,
and has maintained that position
to date.

Dr.
Steven Stenton
Senior Department Manager –
Commercial Product Manager
NEC Australia
Steven Stenton began his career
in IT in 1984 working as part
of the product team that developed
the first Amstrad range of home
and office computers before
moving to Tandy/Radioshack creating
their IBM business machines.
After returning to university,
graduating with Honours Degrees
in History and Computing (Software
Engineering) and a Masters Degree
in Information Technology, Steven
went on to co-own and run the
large London marketing agency
Alchemis, specialising on IT
marketing with clients such
as Fujistu, Systems Union, ADAX
and Cap Gemini.
In 1996 he returned to IT working
in the converged telecommunications
backbone developing Ericsson’s
Portable SS7 solutions and pioneered
development in Video over Frame
Relay switching and broadcast
technologies.
Steven subsequently joined Symbian
heading up the smartphone division,
making the Symbian Operating
System the most widely used
O/S for converged devices and
used by virtually every mobile
phone company as the basis of
their next generation devices.
After time spent as VP of Marketing
for Dejima (Sybase iAnywhere)
in the United States he migrated
to Australia joining NEC Australia
initially as the Manager for
Partners and Solutions and now
head of Strategy & Marketing.
With a PhD in International
IT Marketing (specialising in
Product Development and Integration),
Steven is also a Fellow of the
Royal Society of Arts (FRSA),
a Chartered Member of the Chartered
Institute of Marketing (MCIM)
and a member of the British
Association of Computer Scientists
(BaCS). |

Harold Melnick is the Senior
UC Product Marketing Manager
with Microsoft in Australia.
Prior to joining Microsoft Harold
spend the past 5 years working
in various senior roles with
Telstra.
Since 2000, Harold has been
working in the Australian Telecommunications
industry focused on mobiles,
Enterprise & Government,
Business, and Consumer customer
marketing. Prior to moving to
Australia, Harold held worldwide
and regional marketing roles
in Europe and the United States.
Harold lives with his partner
in Sydney and his hobbies include
